There was a short piece on yesterday’s Today Programme (BBC Radio 4) on how companies are reducing their carbon emissions by substituting video conferencing for travel. The interviewee was extolling the virtues of being able to “look people in the eye” while you’re talking to them at a distance. Just to point out – you can’t. If you look into your camera (i.e. directly at them) you can’t see their eyes. If you look at your screen, you’re looking away from the camera. See?
